Immersed in the Taiga of Finnish Lapland we will walk in various national parks and nature reserves such as Oulanka, Pyha-Lousto, Riisintunturi and Koruoma accompanied by incredible landscapes, the Northern Lights, rivers, lakes, waterfalls and much more. We could observe animals such as sea eagles, grouse, Siberian jays, whooper swans, reindeer, among the wonderful colors of the ruska, the foliage of Finland...

The places we will visit
Hossa National Park
Hossa's magnificent wilderness is a great trekking destination for its trails alongside pine moorland and crystal-clear lakes. The rock paintings of Julma-Ölkky and Värikallio depict stories of shamanism dating back thousands of years. A boat trip inside the largest canyon lake in Finland will be the added value to the excursions we will undertake in this place.
Oulanka National Park
Oulanka National Park is located in the municipalities of Kuusamo and Salla, on the border with Russia. It is made up of pine forests crossed by several river valleys whose landscape is nothing short of suggestive. There are numerous routes that cross this environment. The White-throated dipper finds its ideal habitat here. It's impossible not to spot some confident Siberian jay up close!
Pyha-Luosto National Park
Wild hills cut by deep gorges, where you can walk through ancient forests to windswept treeless peaks. The view from up there dominates the surrounding taiga. Lakes and waterfalls enrich the landscape.
Koruoma Nature Reserve
Korouoma is a valley about 30 kilometers long in a north-west-southeast direction. It is part of a bedrock fracture zone that is hundreds of millions of years old. We will tackle the Koronjää trail, along which the three largest waterfalls in the canyon rise.
Riisintunturi National Park
A mountainous and hilly landscape made up of hanging marshes which in this season are filled with colors and the incredible view of Lake Kitkajärvet. The sunset from up here is remarkable.
Program
Departure from Italy by plane and meeting with the guide in Kuusamo, in northern Finland. We will sleep in various structures characteristic of Lapland, located in wonderful places, often close to some lake where at night we will admire, weather permitting, the Northern Lights. We will always travel with our minibus and every day we will do a different excursion, ranging from 10 to 16 km in length, with limited height differences. A boat trip inside the largest canyon lake in Finland is planned. The breakfasts and dinners, rich and characteristic, will always be in the structures where we will stay, while for lunch we will take advantage of the welcoming bivouacs or picnic areas along the paths and, why not, we will light a small fire to roast something... In the end of the adventure the guide will leave you at Kuusamo airport and you will return to Italy!

Autumn in the Taiga and the Northern Lights
September is the most colorful month to visit Finland. In fact, the Taiga woods are tinged with yellow due to the foliage of the birch, while the undergrowth will be "fired" red due to the cranberry and blueberry plants (so good!). At night however, if we are lucky, the sky will be filled with the colors of the Northern Lights...
Pleasant encounters along the paths
It will happen that along the routes that we will tackle on foot, or during the journeys by minibus, we will have pleasant encounters with some of the fauna characteristic of Lapland... Whooper swans abound in the numerous lakes, the dipper sifts the waterways, the reindeer enjoy the lichens, the grouse shy along the roads, the three-toed woodpeckers drum on the trunks, the squirrels and the Siberian jays will try to take advantage of our picnics... and if we are lucky it is the land of bears, wolves, lynx, moose, eagles and many other animals!
